Burst pipes and escape of water
Bursts cluster in two places: buried or hidden copper that has corroded, and pipework in cold voids such as lofts, garages and under suspended floors that has frozen and split. The freeze-thaw pattern means the damage often appears the day the temperature climbs back up.
On arrival the mains is isolated, the affected section is cut out and remade in copper or barrier plastic, and the system is refilled and pressure-tested. Where the burst is in a wall or floor we will explain exactly what access is required before opening anything up.
Once dry, we can check the surrounding pipework for the same failure mode, because a pipe that has frozen once will freeze again in the same spot unless it is lagged or rerouted.
